Paul Mensah Amanor leads the Foundation for Educational Equity and Development, a nonprofit organization committed to advancing education, youth empowerment, and sustainable growth. His Green Vanguard program combines traditional learning with digital literacy and climate education to equip historically marginalised students with the skills, tools, and awareness needed to promote digital equity, take climate action, and build a more sustainable future. Paul works with underserved rural communities across Ghana that face limited digital access and educational inequalities, especially for girls, who experience significant literacy and opportunity gaps. These communities also face the impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, and shrinking agricultural production. Through his program, Paul is helping to expand opportunities for young people while strengthening community resilience.

In the first year of the Accelerator Fund, Paul established two Climate-Smart School Farms through the Farm2Feed program, partnering with smallholder farmers to supply fresh produce for school meals while teaching climate-smart agricultural skills. These farms enabled school kitchens to serve more than 9,000 nutritious meals to over 140 students within one year. Paul also delivered more than 10 digital literacy workshops, training over 250 students in essential ICT skills, digital storytelling, and environmental advocacy, providing many girls with access to digital tools for the first time. Through five climate education and environmental responsibility forums, participants engaged in meaningful discussions on climate change, adaptation, and community resilience, further strengthening their capacity to contribute to a sustainable future.

Leading project activities under the Accelerator Fund pushed me to speak more confidently to different audiences—schools, farmers, local leaders, and youth. I gained experience in advocating for our work and building stronger relationships with partners.

Paul is scaling Green Vanguard by expanding the climate education curriculum to reach students in new schools and establishing additional climate-smart school farms. The next phase trains more farmers and educators in climate-resilient agriculture, extends digital literacy to new communities, and strengthens school kitchens with fresh produce to reduce hunger-related absenteeism. The program also aims to benefit families indirectly through stronger food systems, increased environmental awareness, and enhanced youth leadership.
